Pete's Home Repair and Energy Audits
Home auditors can assess your property for ways to improve how energy efficient your home is. There are so many things that can be done to help you save money and live in a safer environment. Best of all you can enjoy a higher level of comfort.
The reason this is so, is because so many homes are leaking air in ways you wouldn't believe. I actually went through the assessment program and weatherization programs at GTCC to get a better understanding of this myself.
It's called the envelop. I won't go too far into the industry terms, but the bottom line is this....because air is leaking out of the attic and in from the basement and possibly in other areas, we spend more money than necessary trying to keep the conditioned space at a desired temperature.
If the conditioned space was more airtight, the air conditioning or heating unit wouldn't have to run as hard to keep the ideal temperature. Not only that, these leaks can bring in gases, can increase humidity, can allow insects and rodents to enter on top of wasting money.
The good news is that there are ways these guys can evaluate or assess the home in an energy audit with equipment that can measure just how bad the leaks are. They are also trained to identify where the problems are and determine which fixes are most cost effective. They will make recommendations based on this assessment. This is what the home auditor does.
Here is another plus, there may be grants, loans or tax incentives to cover a certain amount or offset the work that you get done if you qualify. Check out
